ANDY GRAHAM has explained Scott Honeyman’s absence after Alloa’s latest signing wasn’t included in the squad on Saturday.

The 18-year-old arrived on loan from Falkirk on deadline day to round off Alloa’s squad, joining the addition of Tyrece McDonnell from Queen’s Park.

However, the winger wasn’t included in Alloa’s squad against Cove Rangers and the Wasps boss has now explained why.

“Scott’s coming back from a 10 week layoff,” Graham said. “We knew that when we made the loan agreement with Falkirk.

“John [McGlynn’s] been great with that, we’re making sure he’s okay before we go and throw him into games.

“He’s trained this week which is great, he’ll get another week’s training and then we’ll look at including him after that.

“We’ll be speaking with Falkirk and working closely with them with that to make sure the timing is right.

“Being out for 10 weeks is a long time and we’ll need to make sure he’s well looked after.” Honeyman arrives at the Recs off the back of two successful seasons on loan at East Stirlingshire.

The youngster clocked in an impressive 49 appearances for the Lowland League club, which saw him link up with Luke Rankin and work under former Wasp Pat Scullion.

He was also given the nod six times for Falkirk, showing the faith gaffer McGlynn has in him.

“It was great to get the deal over the line,” Graham added. “We got it done because the window was shutting and hopefully Scott will have a big part to play further on.

“It’s important to get it right.”
