LAST week’s defeat was quickly left in the rear view mirror as Alloa RFC charged to a 52-7 victory over Madras Rugby.
Alloa were bolstered by the returns of Dale Foster and Daniel McGookin in the pack, Jamie Shat back on the left wing and Reece Wilson making his season debut in the centre.
Wilson got his season off to a strong start after making an initial break and offload that sent Jamie Cruickshank off for the first try within just a couple of minutes.
Cruckshank was soon back over the try line shortly after, but Madras responded with a converted try.
The hosts composed themselves, with Daniel McGookin providing quality line out, restoring confidence that scoring chances would come their way.
Gary Taylor latched to a slack tap back and forced his way over the line, with Cammy Nimmo providing the bonus points.
A dominant first half saw Alloa lead by 35-7 by the break, with Madras struggling to get their foot in the game.
Alloa didn’t slow down in the second half, consigning their opponents to no response to their dominances.
Wilson was halted close to the Madras line and had to withdraw with a knee injury, a concern on his season debut.
Captain Martin McKenzie nipped through for his sixth try, Taylor nabbed his second and Callum McAllister got in on the action with an individual try from deep.
Madras upped their game for the last 10 minutes, trying to claw some points back but the Alloa line stood tall and refused to concede.
Cruickshank was awarded the Friends of Alloa Man of the Match for an impressive 22-point haul.
Next up for Alloa is a trip on the road to Aberfeldy this Sunday at 3pm.
