A SPARKLING golden ATM has been revealed in tribute to swimming ace Duncan Scott – except it is not in bank closure hit Alloa.
Duncan, who grew up in Alloa and attended the former St John's PS, made history at the 2024 Paris games by becoming Scotland’s most decorated Olympian.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has revealed a sparkling new-look ATM in a temporary tribute to the swimming star, but it is on Byres Road in Glasgow.
RBS closed its Alloa High Street branch in November 2018 as it axed 62 locations.
While Duncan was born in Glasgow, he has close links to the Wee County – indeed, his boyhood dream was slotting a volley into the top corner at the Recs in an Alloa Athletic jersey.
The Wasps fan did have the honour of wearing that jersey six years ago when he received a guard of honour, following Commonwealth Games success.
One of Alloa’s most famous sons, Duncan picked up picked up two medals in Paris, winning gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay and earning silver in the 200m individual medley.
Whether the ATM is in Glasgow or Alloa, his incredible success is being celebrated far and wide.

Following the unveiling of the golden ATM, Duncan said: “I’m so grateful for all of the support which kept me motivated throughout the Paris 2024 Games.
“Becoming Scotland’s most decorated Olympian is a source of real pride for me, and I’m really touched to see this gold ATM installation in my home city.
“As a professional athlete, I know how significant it is to be motivated when you’re setting and working towards your goals.
“During my preparation for the Paris 2024 Games, my coach’s guidance and the unwavering support of Team GB’s fans were a huge part of what motivated me towards success.
“That’s why I’ve teamed up with the Royal Bank of Scotland to inspire you to achieve your goals, whatever they are.”
The Royal Bank of Scotland is part of the NatWest Group, which is the official banking partner of Team GB.
It is understood bank colleagues worked with Team GB to identify the most appropriate locations to celebrate athletes with branches best equipped to showcase athletes’ success to passers-by being a factor.
Laura McKenzie, branch manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland Byres Road branch, added: “We have been absolutely delighted to come together with our customers, colleagues and wider community to cheer on Team GB and to celebrate Duncan’s fantastic achievements in Paris.
“The talent and dedication required of these athletes has just been awe-inspiring and they deserve a hero’s welcome back home.”
