ALLOA RFC got their season off to a dream start on Sunday as they thrashed Bannockburn by 52 points to 12.
The Clacks side welcomed Bannockburn to Earlsfield for their opening game of the league season, scoring eight tries against their local rivals.
Bannockburn boasted two ex-Alloa men, with Niall Chisholm and Jordan Graham lining up for the visitors.
Alloa right winger Rab McCran opened the scoring for his side, taking an overlap pass and stepping through the Burn’s defence.
McCran followed it up with a hat-trick of tries, earning himself the man of the match award for an exemplary performance in the sun.
Bannockburn did respond, however, making use of their supporting players to carry through a touchdown in the Alloa end.
Despite this, Cammy Nimmo secured his side’s fourth try and won the bonus point, sending Alloa out of reach by half time, entering the break 40 points to Bannockburn’s seven.
An even second half played out, Bannockburn upped their game while Alloa became a bit off colour.
Vice-captain and rugby league call up Lee Cairney slotted six conversions during the match, giving his side a satisfying victory on the opening day of the season.
Up next for Alloa is a visit to Cupar to take on the Howe Crusaders.
