TWO Alloa youngsters have secured a loan move to Dundonald Bluebell as the East of Scotland side begin their league campaign.

Striker Joe Cunningham and goalkeeper Owain Clark made the move to Fife, with the pair aiming to gain first team experience.

Cunningham featured heavily throughout Alloa’s pre-season, often replacing Luke Rankin or Conor Sammon for minutes.

Andy Graham had alluded to a loan spell for Clark, who now finds himself as fourth choice keeper behind PJ Morrison, Tochukwu Ogayi and Neil Parry.

Clark had previously spent last season at Dundonald, with the club quick to snap him up again for this year.

The manager said on the pair’s spells away: “Brilliant that they’re both out on loan at Dundonald.

“They look after people out there – Owain was over there last year and really enjoyed it.

“Jason Dair’s the manager there and we spoke about taking Joe, they’re looking for a striker so hopefully Joe will go over there and get some game time and bring on his own development as well.

“That was the whole theory behind that – we don’t want him sitting here as an unused sub, I’d rather he was playing 90 minutes every week at a decent level and bringing him on.”

The pair were announced as Dundonald players on Saturday morning, going on to feature against Sauchie that afternoon, a 1-0 loss for their side.
