ALLOA ATHLETIC Women have laid the groundwork for the season ahead as they have snapped up the majority of their squad from last year.

The club’s management team have been hard at work laying out contracts for the players they’d like to have back.

As announced by the club’s X account, Alloa have been slowly releasing their list of confirmed players.

The first batch has confirmed the likes of Amy Cully, Alex Hyde, Devyn Thompson, Amy Reekie, Chloe Pearson, Heather Bundy, Kayley Robinson, Linda Lay and Emma Allison for the 2024/25 season.

Manager Allan Milne spoke with Advertiser Sport to discuss how the squad looked ahead of friendlies starting this month.

He said: “It’s good to already have nine re-signed and committing themselves for the next year.

“There were some big signings that we had to get done, it’s great that we’ve managed to secure both of our goalkeepers, especially Linda who was very good for us for the last part of the season.

“Very good to get Alloa’s Player of the Year Amy Cully to re-sign, she was very good for us last season.

“We’ve got some big signings on that one, there’s a few more still to announce and then we’ll be looking forward to the new signings coming in as well.”

Alongside the re-signing news, Alloa Athletic Women also shared that loanee Alexis Curry will not be staying at the club.

Curry came in on loan during the latter half of the season from Bonnyrigg Rose, with Milne thanking her for her efforts.

He continued: “I can’t fault her or thank her enough for her efforts, we were disappointed not to keep her.

“She will be disappointed to be leaving as well, it was just down to logistics and getting through to Alloa that meant she couldn’t stay.

“We’re keeping in contact and hopefully in the future, she’ll be back.”

Lastly, Milne went on to tease new signings at the club, which are expected to be announced over the next couple of weeks.

A second batch of re-signings is expected this week, as the club finalises contract details with the last few players from last season.

He added: “We’re expecting to announce three new signings and we have another two that we’re still discussing with.

“After that, we should see another two coming in at maximum on top of the squad we’ve already got.

“That will take us up to a squad of roughly 26, 27 once we’ve finished everything.”
