ALLOA’S opening fixtures have been revealed, as the Wasps look to kickstart their William Hill League One campaign off strongly.

The SPFL released the fixtures this morning (Thursday) across all four divisions, allowing fans to begin to look forward to some dream clashes next season.

For Alloa, they will open the season with a visit from Queen of the South on Saturday, August 3 at 3pm.

This is the second year in a row that the Wasps and the Doonhamers will meet during the first week of fixtures, following on from last season’s seven goal thriller on the opening day, an eventual 4-3 win in favour of Alloa.

Alloa will follow that up with a visit to newly promoted Dumbarton the following week on August 10.

The Sons were promoted at the end of last season via the playoffs, seeing off Stirling Albion before beating Spartans in the final.

With both Stirling and Falkirk out of the league this season – one being relegated and the other being promoted – the closest thing Alloa have to a local derby is Forth Valley neighbours Stenhousemuir.

Stenny were also promoted from League Two last season, finishing as champions and will visit the Recs on Saturday, August 17.

Alloa will hit the road for their fourth fixture of the season down to Galabank to take on Annan Athletic on Saturday, August 24.

Their next game will be to relegated side Arbroath, a side the Wasps haven’t come up against since the end of the 2020/21 season.

Their final five fixtures will be away to Stenhousemuir on April 5, at home to Annan the following week before travelling north to Cove on April 19.

The Wasps host Montrose on April 26 before finishing off the league with a visit to Kelty Hearts on May 3.
