JACK THOMSON has signed a new contract with Sauchie Juniors, tying the defender to the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Thomson put pen to paper on Thursday, March 21, as part of gaffer Fraser Duncan’s plan to build the squad for next season.
The manager spoke with the club during the announcement and said he was delighted to have the defender back on board for another year.
“Chuffed to bits that big Jack has managed to extend,” Duncan said. “We brought Jack in from Linlithgow Rose during an initial loan spell at the time, he came into the club knowing that his confidence was low.
“I spoke to Gordon Herd at Linlithgow who said that Jack needed games. We did that, we threw him in at the deep end and played exceptional for us, he did really well.
“I think just week on week, we’ve worked on just two little bits and it’s really helped his game.
“It’s down to the help and assistance we’ve given Jack, but it's also due to the fact that he works really hard.
“Obviously then to sign him from Linlithgow and for him to sign a new contract to come along next season, hopefully he can continue that consistency.
“That was the whole point of bringing him into the squad and working hard with him.
“It's great to have him along for next season, the big man’s got an excellent attitude and he’s what I want - a big scary centre half.”
Sauchie now look to a tie with Musselburgh Athletic in the East of Scotland League Cup second round.
