A WEE COUNTY bare knuckle boxer has secured his professional gloved boxing licence, just six months after going pro.
Eryk Majda turned pro earlier this year and has his first fight against Martin Grainger where afterwards, he was offered his first contract with BKB promoters.
Since then, he has now gone on to expand into gloved boxing, with 2024 set to be a big year as he hopes to kick on and take his next career step.
Speaking to Advertiser Sport, Eryk said he was excited to start gloved boxing after training this way all his life.
He said: “They’ve given me the green light to do bare knuckle boxing and also gloved boxing.
“In January, I’ll have my first title fight with BKB and then after that, I’m aiming to really start my gloved boxing career.
“I’ve done gloved boxing all my life and all kinds of sparring and training is gloved so it won’t be harder or that.
“You need to be quicker to knock someone out but I’m looking forward to it.”
Eryk’s next major fight will also be his first title challenge as he enters the ring to take on professional boxer Kevin Greenwood.
This contest is set for Saturday, January 27 and will be broadcast on Bein Sports for anyone interested in watching.
After that, Eryk has his sights set on becoming a British super heavyweight bare knuckle boxing champion and has set up a catalogue of matches for next year.
“I’m going to get my first title,” Eryk added. “It’ll happen in January, the fight is on. Kevin is a former professional gloved boxer and I’ll be fighting him for the title.
“After that, I’ll have a gloved boxing match with someone next year in March and May time.
“I feel great, I like being active and motivated and it keeps me happy. I’m looking forward to my next fight and it’s great to see so many sponsors coming on board.
“I have a lot of fans messaging me now which motivates me but also puts extra weight on my shoulders but mainly very motivating.”
