ALLOA RFC continued their perfect start to the season with a 69-17 thrashing of Dundee University Medics.
The Medics have proven to be a pain for Alloa in the past but this was a day in which the visitors were rarely troubled.
Daniel McGoukin scored in the first minute to get Alloa off onto a strong start in a match they dominated from the off.
Dundee equalised straight after but Alloa persisted and were able to score at regular intervals.
Blaine Gilchrist charged over the line to restore the lead, whilst Kris Aitken was able to find a gap for the third try.
The ever reliable Cammy Nimmo broke the line to register the all important bonus try for Alloa, giving the visitors the 12-24 lead at the break.
Alloa came out the break strong and, supported by the breeze behind their backs, charged through Dundee’s defence, giving McGoukin the chance to score the first try of the match.
At this point, the Alloa back division really began to find its rhythm, allowing Martin McKenzie darted through for a score.
He was followed by Jamie Shaw and Josh Holmes who both scored on the overlap down the left wing channel.
Rab Truesdale supported Liam Ferguson with a try, Stuart Milligan and Dale Foster finished off the Alloa try scoring.
While Alloa may have cruised past Dundee on this occasion, their next challenge will be much more of a test.
They welcome Blairgowrie to Alloa next week but, with the squad in good heart, they look forward to hosting a big home support.
A win over Blairgowrie will see Alloa extend their exciting unbeaten start to the season.
