ALLOA RFC kicked their season off to a strong start, with a strong win over St Andrews’ side Madras.
The Wee County side produced a dominating display against the Fife outfit, ending up with a 43-19 victory.
Alloa started off strong from the first whistle, with David Jess’ opening try no more than his side deserved.
Daniel McGookin was next up as pressure was maintained on Madras’ line, allowing him to find a gap and stretch out the Alloa advantage.
Alloa entered the break leading Madras 24-0, but knew the game was not yet over. Madras came out the break much more determined and notched an early score to put their first points on the board.
The home side soon regained control of the half, with Cammy Nimmo, Jordan Graham and Lee Cairney putting the match well outwith Madras’ reaches.
Madras finished the half with two more tries but could not do anything to reduce the deficit, with Alloa claiming their first win on opening day of the season.
They will now look to their first away fixture of the season, with a trip to Dunfermline on the cards at McKane Park this Saturday at 3pm.
