SAUCHIE JUNIORS midfielder Craig Comrie says his side are much better than the performance they displayed on Saturday after losing 2-0.
The Reds hosted Dundonald Bluebells on Saturday as they were comfortably beaten by the visitors in what was one of their worst performances this season.
Speaking to Advertiser Sport after the game, Comrie said: "It wasn't a great result; it wasn't a great performance from us.
"We've played a lot of games so there was some tiredness creeping in towards the end, but that's not at the levels we are at, we are much better than that.
"It wasn't a great day and that includes myself."
Reflecting on the number of games Sauchie have had to play over the last couple of months, Comrie added: "It's mental the amount of games we have played, it's not healthy for the boys, especially when you are coming in after a hard days graft.
"We have dealt with it well.
"We've got a good squad and we've been on a great run and got ourselves in a good position as we are in sixth, but the games do catch up on you."
Comrie joined Sauchie halfway through the season as he left Bo'ness United, and this will be the former Stirling Albion midfielders second stint at Beechwood.
Comrie continued: "I was going to take the rest of the season off and take a break from football, but Fraser [Duncan] and Morgy [Brian Morgan] got me in up here and have got me back to enjoying it. I can't thank them enough."
Sauchie have had a successful season going far in multiple cup competitions, including their debut in the Scottish Cup, which Comrie says that's what they want to be achieving every season.
He said: "You look at this season, third round in the Scottish Cup, another semi final just there, that's something the club wants to keep doing that's where our aim is.
"We'll be looking forward to next season, but we still have a job to do for the end of this season with a big quarter final against Tranent.
"They beat us here last time, so we have a score to settle with them."
Sauchie will be at home to Jeanfield Swifts on Wednesday and then will travel away to Broxburn Athletic for their final league game of the season.
