A WEE COUNTY bowling club started the new season earlier this month with a successful opening day.
Thanks to a good attendance by players and spectators, Dollar Bowling Club's season started on Saturday, May 15, with president Adrian Bussey's wife Sonya opening the green by throwing the first jack and bowl of the season.
President Bussey remarked his wife's throw was "a better bowl than any" he played that afternoon, and flowers were presented to Sonya by vice president Gordon Duncan.
With the new season up and running, the club have also announced memberships will be free for this year for all who wish to join, in the hope of encouraging many more people to come and play or try the sport there, whilst also seeing both new and old faces.
Friday nights will now host a friendly meet and bounce game while anyone who wishes to attend is more than welcome to do so and can enjoy a drink at the club's bar.
As restrictions ease and the world of sport gets closer to normality, the club hopes to get a calendar of events back up and running, in line with previous years which included function nights, pool, darts and dominoes nights as well as a prize bingo.
Anyone who is interested in joining Dollar Bowling Club can find out more by searching for the club on Facebook.
