SAUCHIE JUNIORS have announced loyal supporters who bought season tickets for last season will be given one for free for the upcoming campaign.
The club's season never really got going as restrictions and bad weather continually interrupted the season, before it was suspended in January.
With the season being declared null and void, eyes turned to the new campaign and the club said it was a no-brainer to reward their fans who stood by them through the uncertainty of last season.
Posting on Twitter, Sauchie Juniors announced: "The club are delighted to announce that any of our amazing fans who purchased a season ticket this season and sadly never got to see their team in the flesh will this season receive a season ticket free of charge.
"To thank them for their amazing support at a time when the club needed it most [it] goes without saying that the full committee would like to place on record their thanks to supporters last season who still purchased season tickets despite knowing they may not see any matches.
"We are extremely grateful for their support and hopefully this gesture shows how much we appreciate it. This hasn't been an easy time for anyone so once again thank you."
Club chairman Karl Rennie added: "Being honest, it's been a no-brainer. It's good to give them something back when they've helped us when the club needed it."
Matthew Hollingworth, vice-secretary, said the decision was 'unanimous' at a committee meeting.
He said: "We discussed it at a committee meeting a long time ago and we felt it was appropriate as the fans handed over a lot of money last year for their season tickets when the club really needed the support.
"That was a big financial outlay for the supporters – a lot of them were furloughed or had lost their jobs – so the club felt that it was appropriate to give something back to say thanks for that support."
With the vaccine programme continuing, the club are hopeful it won't be long until their loyal supporters are able to see the team live again.
Matthew continued: "I know Fraser [Duncan] and the players are really looking forward to having fans at the games again, it'll be nice to have an atmosphere again."
Any fans who would like to support the club financially can continue to do so by visiting the donate a ticket page.
Season tickets will be announced in the coming weeks and anybody who would like to be notified can message the club on Twitter or Facebook to be added to a list.
