FRASER Duncan is sure Scottish football will have some clarity on its short-term future amid the coronavirus lockdown in the coming weeks.

The Reds boss says only then will he properly turn his attention to planning for next season's Premier Division campaign with sport continuing to take a back seat during the worldwide pandemic.

Duncan, who admits he is frustrated by talk of football while people are losing their lives, has moved, however, to reassure Sauchie fans he will ensure the club is in as strong a position as possible by the time the game returns.

"Things will be clearer in three or four weeks' time," he told Advertiser Sport. "The government and health officials will have a better gauge on who has the virus, who is infected, and who might get the virus.

"That's what I am saying to everyone. There's no point sitting down and discussing things when we are likely to have a lot more clarity and can discuss things in a month's time or so.

"Let's just do wee bits we can do around the club. When it comes to it and we can talk about next season, we have everything done and everything is in place."

Like most clubs at their level, Sauchie will have to secure a number of their playing squad on new deals when the time finally comes to talk football.

They have already lost youngster Aidan McKeown to rivals Bo'ness United and Duncan is determined not see anyone else exit the Wee County before he has a chance to talk to them post-lockdown.

"The big thing for me is trying to speak to my management team and looking at players," he said. "What I don't want us is to be left behind while other teams are doing deals.

"At the same time, I don't want to rush into deals we don't have to do and want to have the right mixture of guys and the right squad of players, with the right mentality and attitude.

"We have boys like Alan Comrie, Jon Tully, and Iain Syme, who we have brought back to the club with a lot of experience but maybe with a couple of years left in them. We want to make sure we have them and they have a good pre-season.

"If I said I wasn't speaking to players, I would be lying. But, at this time, no one really wants to commit or wait a few months until there is more clarity.

"I would hope my players are doing the same and I would hate to lose anyone."
