FIVE deaths have been linked to coronavirus in Clackmannanshire so far this month, according to recent figures.

Data published by National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows one death occurred last week (November 16-22) and four in the first week of November.

The total number of deaths linked to coronavirus in Clackmannanshire now stands at 53.

Across the Forth Valley area, 298 deaths have been linked to the virus, and in Scotland overall, the figure stands at 5,380.

NRS’ data, published on Wednesday, November 25, covers the period from December 30, 2019, until November 22, 2020.

An NRS report, published alongside the data, said: "Deaths involving Covid-19 are defined as those where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributory cause.

"Figures include deaths where 'suspected' or 'probable' Covid-19 appears on the death certificate."
