An online consultation has been launched to determine the priorities of local services as the council faces a budget gap of £13 million.

Clackmannanshire Council is inviting residents to share their views on the services they value most.

The council faces a budget gap of £13.01 million this year due to increasing costs and demand for services, coupled with insufficient funding.

Ellen Forson, Council leader said: "The council needs to prioritise services and budgets while continuing with our transformation plans.

"We’ve already made significant savings over the past few years to ensure we meet our legal obligation to balance our budget.

"Despite those savings, we still face a shortfall between our funding and the cost of the services we deliver."

She added that even legally required services might see changes in their provision or delivery models.

Ms Forson commented: "I would encourage all residents to have their say by completing the online survey which should only take a few moments.”

Despite the financial challenges, the council remains committed to 'transform' the local economy, tackling poverty and inequality, and driving long-term sustainable change through the Be the Future programme.

The consultation is available online until January 6, 2025, and can be accessed via the council's website.

A further consultation, detailing specific proposed changes to council services, is expected later this winter.
