An Alloa couple celebrated the “phenomenal” launch of a brand-new micro distillery in Clackmannanshire.
Andrew Bailey has a lifelong passion for distilling, having previously worked in the industry as a systems engineer.
He’s opened the new venture on Clackmannan's Main Street with his wife and business partner Gillian.
He said: “We decided to make a business of it, and spent the last four years trying to find a product that works.
“I know it’s quite a small area, but I think there’s enough room for more than one distillery on the Forth."
Issues with payment systems caused a minor hiccup, before Monday's launch was set back on track.
Mr Bailey continued: “It went phenomenally well, and we sold about 20 per cent of stock on the first day. We didn’t’ know how it would go because we hadn’t done much advertising and didn’t have much of a presence beforehand, but we’re happy with it.”
Originally from Nottingham, Andy made Scotland his home in 2008 to be with his wife.
He said: “It’s quite touching that the community reached out the way that it did, and with its continued support I’m sure we’ll do really well. It is quite a risk, but we’ll see how it goes.”
Products on sale include gin and salted vodka, along with hand painted glasses.
