A MAN was bitten in the neck and eye when he tried to protect his pet which was being attacked by another dog in Sauchie.
A destruction order has now been imposed at Alloa Sheriff Court on the dog, a Staffy, after its attack on a smaller animal.
Its owner, 42-year-old Thomas Brownlie, of Craigview, Sauchie, appeared from custody by video-link.
He admitted that on October 1 last year at Lochbrae, Sauchie, he was the owner of a Staffordshire Terrier, which was dangerously out of control.
The dog whilst untethered and unmuzzled, ran towards a Pomeranian, repeatedly jumped on it and repeatedly bit it on its head and body to its injury.
It failed to desist when commanded to do so by Brownlie and it then caused injury to a man when he tried to stop the attack.
The dog repeatedly attempted to bite the man on the head and body, all to his injury.
Sheriff Neil Bowie granted a destruction order for the Staffy, known as ‘Loki’.
He banned Brownlie from owning or looking after dogs for five years.
Brownlie was also put on a 130-day restriction of liberty order.
