An optometrist has been honoured for her dedication to eye health.
Jill Rooney was one of only eight Specsavers optometrists from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to receive the Doug Perkins Medal for clinical excellence this year.
Mr Perkins said on the award: "Specsavers’ mission is to change lives through better sight and hearing and all of the winners are shining examples of how our optometrists and audiologists do that every day. Congratulations to all of them."
The award comes with £1,000 prize money.
Ms Rooney, who joined Specsavers Alloa as optometry director in April 2023, said: "Patient centred care is at the core of our practice.
"So, it’s an honour to receive this award from the founders of Specsavers.
"I also want to thank my colleagues at Specsavers Alloa, in particular my fellow directors Lynne Sangster and Emma Divers, who are a constant source of support.
"As a team we are dedicated to serving our community."
She is also an independent prescribing optometrist, meaning she can clinically assess a patient, establish a diagnosis, determine clinical management required, and prescribe medicine where necessary.
Ms Rooney added: "I’m proud that Specsavers Alloa is a key part of the neighbourhood health service.
"We have built strong relationships within the community, working closely with key healthcare providers, including pharmacists, who frequently refer patients to us.
"We look forward to continuing serving our community."
Lynne Sangster, one of the other directors at Specsavers Alloa said: "We are incredibly proud of Jill’s achievement, she’s a wonderful asset to the store and I’m sure she will continue to do great things."
