PLANS for a new Greggs in Alloa have taken a step forward, with the popular bakery applying for signage around the site.
Greggs has lodged a planning application requesting permission for 18 information signs to be placed around the vacant lot at Old Russels Yard on Clackmannan Road.
The site, adjacent to Morrison, has planning permission for a restaurant and drive-thru to be built on the site.
The bakery was awarded planning permission in 2022 for the “erection of restaurant (Class 3) with drive through and hot food takeaway, associated parking and access footpaths.”
Greggs have now applied for signage permission to be dotted around the site on Clackmannan Road.
Among the signs proposed include a welcome sign, vehicle height restrictor, menu digital screen, order point, thank you sign, waiting bay sign and give way/no entry sign.

A spokesperson for Greggs said: “Greggs is always looking into new shop locations.
“While we are unable to confirm anything at the moment, we will share any information in due course.”
Proposals for the site to be converted into a hot food takeaway were first suggested in 2022.
Burger King had also lodged an application to open a drive-through restaurant at Old Russell’s Yard, but this was withdrawn in March.
Plans for 10 electric vehicle charging stations were also approved just down from the site.
Greggs currently has an Alloa store on 8 High Street. The full application can be viewed on the Clackmannanshire Council planning portal by searching 24/00230/ADV.
