BRAVE men and women who gave their lives to protect our country during the wars were remembered in services across the Wee County last weekend.

Members of the public turned out in vast numbers to pay their respects during Remembrance Day parades and ceremonies on Sunday, November 10.

Alloa had the biggest turnout it has ever seen for Remembrance Day, while good numbers were recorded in services across Clacks.

Wreaths laden with poppies were lain at memorials across the Wee County, with members of the Clackmannanshire Lieutenancy, ministers and elected officials all attending.

Alva

Deputy lieutenant Anne Spruce BEM was on hand to lay a wreath during Alva's Remembrance Day service.

A parade braved the dreich conditions to make its way up Stirling Street before coming to a stop at the War Memorial.

Wreaths were also placed by Alva Community Council and Alva Development Trust, with provost Donald Balsillie also attending.

Deputy Lieutenant Neil McFarlane was on hand in Clackmannan to lay a wreath to remember the lives of those who fought in the wars.

The wreaths were placed at the Clackmannan Memorial to a good crowd.

Wreaths in Menstrie were placed by Reverend Mike Goodison, who led the service at their War Memorial.

He was joined by Sheila Bulloch, deputy lieutenant for Clackmannanshire, in paying their respects.

Sauchie attracted a big crowd and parade for their annual Remembrance Day celebrations.

Among the wreath layers included Alloa and Grangemouth Labour MP Brian Leishman, June Anderson BEM and Deputy Lieutenant John MacPherson.

On hand for Tillicoultry was Craig Dunbar, deputy lieutenant and clerk to the lieutenancy, who placed a wreath to mark Remembrance Day in the town.
