POLICE patrols will be upped around the Wee County this week as people get set to celebrate Bonfire Night.

Two large firework displays will be taking place in Clacks this year, with Sparks in the Park in Alloa and Dollar Fireworks both set to go ahead.

Both events are expected to draw in big numbers on Saturday, November 2, with police now increasing patrols to ensure everyone is kept safe.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Our officers will be patrolling at several organised displays within Forth Valley to keep people safe.

"While we want everyone to have fun, our advice is to attend an organised event if you can as not all fireworks are suitable for your garden.

"We would also ask that drones are not flown over any public displays."

Police also urged that children are kept safe during firework displays, sharing that nearly half of firework-related injuries occur within that age group.
