TEN new electric vehicle charging points are coming to Alloa after planning proposals were approved.

An application was submitted by CM Estates in August requesting to construct five dual charging points, a substation kiosk, solar canopy and 10 parking bays nearby.

Dual chargers are able to power two vehicles at once, providing space for 10 electric cars to be charged under the plans.

The charging stations will be built at Old Russell’s Yard on Clackmannan Road, with the site adjacent to a vacant piece of land earmarked for use as a restaurant with a drive thru.

10 new parking spaces will be constructed, owing to the current car park needing to be reduced by 10 spaces to accommodate the dual chargers.

The application states: “To accommodate the EV charging hub and associated EV substation, the number of car parkin spaces reduced by 10 spaces.

“Therefore, a new bank of 10 standard car parking spaces has been added to the south of the site to maintain the required number of combined spaces.”

Previously, Burger King launched an application to build a restaurant there, but the application was withdrawn following five public objections to the proposals.

The EV charging site will be part of the site currently occupied by Auto Dismantlers Alloa Ltd, across the street from Morrison’s.
