RESIDENTS both old and young have been making good use of free bus travel in the Wee County.

Figures collected over the past year revealed that more than 800,000 free bus journeys have been made in Clackmannanshire.

A total of 838,453 journeys were made in 2022 by people over 60 or under 22 who have access to a free bus pass.

This is a result of the free bus pass initiative that the SNP Government spearheaded for young and old people across the country.

Keith Brown, SNP MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, hailed the scheme for its work in promoting travel in the Wee County.

He said: “In the last year, 838,453 free bus journeys have been made in Clackmannanshire thanks to decisions by the Scottish Government.

“Here in Scotland, the SNP Government has consistently protected free bus passes for everyone over 60, and disabled people, while also extending the scheme to injured veterans.

“And in 2022, we introduced the free bus travel scheme for under 22s. It’s important to celebrate the difference that SNP policies are making here in Clackmannanshire and Dunblane.

“Getting on for a million free bus journeys made this year under the free bus travel schemes being just part of more than 178 million free bus journeys made across Scotland this year.”
