A WOODEN carving in Alva Glen has been damaged beyond repair.
The 'Wee Man in the Woods' was a feature of the glen which was carved directly into the face of a tree in the quarry.
Alva Glen Heritage Trust confirmed that vandals had targeted the carving, kicking away at the tree until the feature had been completely ruined.
A member of the trust searched the scene to assess the damage, but unfortunately found that the carving could not be salvaged.
Posting in the Alva Community group, the trust shared their disappointment in the acts of vandalism.

"Another Alva legend lost," they said. "The wee man in the woods at the old quarry in Alva Glen.
"Seems to have been a further incidence of vandalism.
"Yes the tree is rotten and the wee man was hanging by a thread but he brought pleasure to many for years who managed to spot him.
"Now gone forever."
This is the second act of vandalism to hit the glen in recent months, following on from the theft of a beloved statue.
The statue, named Alvor, was a carving of a neolithic man who had initially been found in the glen last century.
Alvor was recovered from the banks of the River Devon in August after being reported missing in April.
