ONE man has died following an explosion at a house in Alloa.

Emergency services responded to reports of a blast a property on Kellie Place on at around 6pm on Sunday evening.

A multi-agency response took place, which lasted almost 6 hours, to control a resulting fire and look through debris.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that one man was killed in the blast, while three others were taken to hospital.

Sergeant Neill Drummond said: "We are still working to establish the full circumstances of what happened at this property, however, we can confirm that one male has passed away.

"Our inquiries to confirm his identity and provide his next of kin with all the necessary support they may require are ongoing.

"We are grateful to the local community for their continued co-operation and support of our investigation, and we'll provide more information in due course."

First responders arrived at the house and pronounced the man dead at the scene. No formal identification has taken place yet.

Three other individuals were taken from within the block of flats and treated at Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for minor injuries.

Residents of nearby flats and properties are being provided with temporary accommodation at Alloa Town Hall if they cannot return to their homes.

Gas and electrical work on the surrounding properties is currently being undertaken.

Police Scotland had closed off a number of roads, including Kellie Place, B9096, A907 and Tullibody Road, during the incident.

These are now in the process of being lifted, however, further utilities work may be required, resulting in additional closures.
