A POPULAR nature path will be closed for a week while waste water treatment works are carried out.
Scottish Water have announced they will be upgrading their systems along Devon Way in Dollar over the next two months.
The water supplier plans on upgrading their equipment, nearing the end of its 30 years shelf life, but unfortunately will have to close a road in order to do so.
The Devon Way will be closed between the A91 west of Dollar and Walton Crescent to allow for the installation of a 300-tonne crane to help carry the works out.
The road will be closed from Monday, October 14 to Saturday, October 19 to install the crane and then for a week in November for the crane to be removed.
Robin Johnson, project manager for Scottish Water, said: “Access to the site is along a single track road which is popular with dog walkers and horse riders.
“We will need to widen and lay down special track to be able to safely bring the crane and other heavy goods vehicles to the treatment works.
“We will be closing the road on two occasions for six days at a time to allow us to bring the crane in, and then two weeks later, take the crane out.
“Unfortunately, there is no other way to bring the necessary machinery to site and we will do everything we can to minimise any disruption.”
The Dollar waste water treatment works project is expected to be completed in June 2025.
