AN AWARD-WINNING jazz virtuoso who developed a love for music in Clacks has once again been longlisted for a sought-after accolade.
Piano prodigy Fergus McCreadie, who developed a passion for music as he grew up in Dollar, has been named on the longlist for this year's The Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award, with 19 others.
Together with his trio featuring long-time collaborators bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson, Fergus released his fourth album Stream in May this year.
Featuring their distinctive style blending Scottish folk and contemporary jazz, Stream has been highly praised by critics since the release.
Fergus, who won The SAY award with 2022 album Forest Floor, said: “It is an honour to again be in the longlist for The SAY Award.
“Every year The SAY Award showcases the absolute best in Scottish music and very skilfully covers the wide breadth of what the scene has to offer.
“I'm really excited to be part of this and I can't wait to hear the other albums!”
The longlist was whittled down from some 370 eligible submissions, showcasing talent from all across Scotland and from a range of genres.
The 20 albums are in the running for a £20,000 prize with the winner to be unveiled at an Albert Halls ceremony in Stirling later in October.

The longlist will be narrowed down to a shortlist of 10 albums, one of which will be chosen by music fans via a 72-hour online public vote.
The remaining nine albums will be chosen by The SAY Award judging panel, with the shortlist to be announced in early-October.
