KEEN artists from one of Alloa’s biggest charities have raised just shy of £1000 during their annual exhibition.

The Art Opportunities service within Scottish Autism held a showcase and sale from their premises in the town centre.

The charity picked the ‘under the sea’ theme this year, which saw a number of bespoke items and pieces of artwork created by the individuals who attend the service.

Fundraising for a new iPad for the service and also to fund a celebratory meal out, the exhibition night raised £969 to towards the charity’s income.

Meagan McConnachie, senior autism practitioner, said: “We are delighted to have raised close to a thousand pounds at our exhibition, it was great to have so many people coming along to support the event on the evening.

“The individuals who attend our Art Opportunities service really benefit from the opportunity to express themselves through the creation of their artworks and it means a lot to them when people show such appreciation through attending the exhibition and purchasing items.

“We look forward to putting the monies raised to good use, and we are already excited to start creating new items for our next exhibition and sale.”
