BURLESQUE dancers from the Wee County are raising funds for a good cause by creating a country-style 2025 charity calendar.
Tullibody’s Katie Boyd, who performs under the stage name Blondie Fizz, and her dancers united for the charity effort in aid of Strathcarron Hospice.
It is a cause close to the hearts of many involved and the group is set to launch their calendar at an October 12 cabaret evening at The Auld Gambling Hoose in Alloa.
Katie, who holds classes through her business Blondie Fizz Burlesque, told the Advertiser: “It’s just a cause that’s close to all of our hearts.
“I also used to work for Marie Curie in their hospice so I’ve got quite a lot of experience in that area.
“I just think Strathcarron Hospice are absolutely amazing at what they do, they need a lot of money to run so anything to support them, we want to do.”
Burlesque dancing has come a long way since its beginnings and has endured as a witty, dazzling or downright scandalous discipline.
For Katie and many of her students, burlesque is a way to have fun and to work on fitness, all while getting a mental health boost.
Women and men all take part, ranging in age from 18 to 60 and above, including all body types and shapes.
Katie added: “It’s really just a confidence boost for everybody, it’s good fun.
“I would encourage everyone who’s never been to burlesque or never been to a cabaret evening to come along on October 12 and see what it’s all about.
“It’s really just about supporting people and being confident in your own skin.”
The calendar is all country themed with group and solo images and will be available for purchase at the by-donation launch event.

Katie added: “If it’s popular and people like it, we might do it again next year with a different theme.
“Anything that will raise for money for the hospice, we are happy to do.”
Strathcarron Hospice needs to raise £16,637 every single day to keep its vital services going.
