A WEE COUNTY motorist turned off his headlights as he sped off from a pursuing police car in the Hillfoots.
Douglas Allan, of Ochil Street, Tillicoultry, appeared for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court.
The 31-year-old admitted that on April 21 last year at West Stirling Street, Alva, the A91 Alva-Tillicoultry road and various road in Tillicoultry, he drove dangerously.
He attempted to evade a marked police vehicle with blue lights activated, accelerated harshly, repeatedly drove at excessive speeds, failed to keep a proper look-out, failed to slow down at junctions and while negotiating bends and drove without headlights in darkness.
Depute fiscal Sarah Smith said the incident began at 12.50am when police were following Allan’s car having become suspicious of the way he was driving.
The blue lights were activated but instead of stopping, Allan accelerated away and turned off his headlights.

He was seen crossing through a roundabout without checking for other vehicles. The police eventually lost sight of Allan’s car but he was later charged.
Sheriff Garry Sutherland said: “It’s obviously terrible driving. You may well have caused a disaster, killing somebody.”
He banned Allan from driving for 20 months and until he passes the extended test. He also imposed a community payback order with 180 hours of unpaid work.
