A CLACKMANNAN man, who assaulted his former partner as she pushed her baby in a pram, has been told he is “teetering” on the brink of prison.

Thomas Foxton, 37, of Backwood Court, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He admitted that on July 31 at Kerse Green Road, Clackmannan, he assaulted his former partner by seizing her by the hair and striking her on the head.

The court was told the couple’s 16-month relationship had ended in May and they have a young child together.

The woman was walking along a path with her baby in a pram when she was confronted by Foxton.

He ran towards her, grabbed her hair and struck her to the face.

The woman took hold of the pram and walked away.

Foxton is already on a community payback order with unpaid work for an earlier offence involving the same victim.

Sheriff Neil Bowie said: “It’s particularly concerning that he’s offending again.”

He told Foxton: “This was a very unpleasant assault on your former partner. You’re teetering on the edge of being sent to prison.

“Any repeat and you will be going to prison. This was totally unacceptable behaviour.”

He imposed a community payback order with two years of supervision and participation in the Caledonian Programme for domestic offenders.
