ALLOA’S best pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues have been celebrated as part of a new town trail.

Alloa First have partnered up with tech company Vicinity to provide the guide, which gathers information on the best the town has to offer.

Toast and Taste will provide visitors - and locals - with suggestions on where to find good coffee, cake, cocktails or food.

Diane Brown, manager of Alloa First, said: “Alloa has some fantastic places to eat, drink and be entertained. Toast and Taste raises a glass to them.

“In so many ways, it’s the perfect guide to a fabulous day out – meet up for a sweet treat, head to the cinema and then top it off with cocktails and a meal. What could be better?

“The digital town trail will shine a spotlight on just how much there is to enjoy here, for locals and visitors alike who can come time and time again until they’ve completed the trail – while also enjoying a flavour of what more the town has to offer.”

Toast and Taste features 16 local establishments and has been made possible with help from Scotland’s Improvement Districts (SIDs).

This has been launched as part of Scotland Loves Local Week, which runs from August 26 to September 1.

Heather Clamp, customer success representative at Vicinity, added: “It’s been fantastic working alongside Alloa First to help develop their Toast and Taste trail.

“Trails are a versatile and innovative tool that help people navigate their local areas, discover what’s on their doorstep, and enjoy an engaging and memorable experience – all while driving footfall and amplifying the reach of local businesses.”

In addition to launching the trail, Alloa First are also encouraging local businesses to sign the Scotland Loves Local pledge.

This ensures that people will choose local where possible for them to do so, with Clackmannanshire Council supporting them through this initiative.

Council leader Ellen Forson joined businesses in the town centre to sign the pledge, remarking: “The council is committed to working with our partners to develop a wellbeing economy, helping to keep wealth in our local communities.

“I fully support the Scotland Loves Local initiative and would encourage everyone in Clackmannanshire to shop and think local as much as possible.

“This can help our local businesses prosper, support jobs being created and help our town and village centres become more vibrant places.”

The Toast and Taste trail can be accessed by downloading the LoyalFree app from the relevant app store.
