PLANS have been put forward to complete the ground at the Indodrill Stadium with the addition of a fourth stand.
A planning application was submitted to Clackmannanshire Council, outlining proposals for the stand to be built alongside the railway end of the football ground.
Currently, this area is vacant and only used for a sizeable away following. It is usually fenced off during home games.
The application includes a site map for the “erection of steel enclosure (open at sides, front and partial rear) at North Terrace”.
Alloa Athletic chairman Andy Allan spoke with Advertiser Sport to discuss the plans and future for the ground.
He said: “This is something the club has looked at and thought about for a while as it completes the ground.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve the fan experience at Alloa and we’re aware that fans want to be able to stand behind the goals.
“We know that this would improve the fan experience and we know it’ll improve the status of the ground so we’ll take that all into account.
“It’s an option just now but there is no definite action.”
Plans for a new stand at the Indodrill Stadium, better known to fans as the Recs, started some years ago.
The club put in a planning application in 2019, which was approved by Clackmannanshire Council and remained live for a period of three years.
However, the planning application expired in 2022 after factors such as the Covid pandemic got in the way.
Now, while the club are not committing to building a new stand, they have sent in a new application to keep the option alive for the next few years.
Mr Allan explained: “We put a planning application in back in 2019 to look at a potential development of the railway end and about possibly putting a stand there.
“The application was granted in September 2019 and that only lasted three years, so it expired in September 2022.
“We have now put in another application to which is mostly the same as the one from a few years ago.
“We want to keep the option open and are making the application live again after it lapsed during the pandemic.”
The application has now been put forward for the council’s planning department, with a response expected in due course.
