RESIDENTS from around the Hillfoots will have the chance to enjoy quality food and award-winning beer with a Clacks brewery set to host a summer event.

Harviestoun Brewery, which last year celebrated four decades of operations, will be hosting people from around the Ochils on Friday, August 30.

The brewery has teamed up with popular Wee County catering business Stag Bites The Hog, who have an iconic food van affectionately called Ronnie, to throw the event from 5pm to 9pm on the day.

The evening will be a chance to try the Wee County brewery’s award-winning ales and lagers, such as the iconic Schiehallion and many more, right at the Alva brewhouse.

Set to be a tasty treat, Stag Bites The Hog will be offering pulled pork baps, BBQ veggie loafs or smoked beef, both with cheesy mash to keep people fed.

Andrew McKnight, vice chairman at Harviestoun Brewery, told the Advertiser that the event is to help lay the foundations with more to come at the brewhouse.

He said: “Following the devastation of Covid, we are trying to build up our local business and have a long term view of opening a brewery tap with food, drink and events space on the site in Alva.

“We are doing a monthly community night at the brewery and this month it is on Friday the 30th from 5pm to 9pm.

“Obviously we hope this can drive more local support for the beers which are more in demand further afield typically.”

Families are welcome and Andrew added: “The sun was good to us last time but we have plenty of covered space just in case.”
