TWO high school sweethearts marked their platinum wedding anniversary at the Dollar Academy Library last weekend.
Donald Macdonald and his wife Eileen celebrated 70 years of marriage by returning to the place they met more than seven decades ago.
The happy couple were married in St James the Great Church in Dollar on August 18, 1954 and marked the occasion with a mini get together in their old school library.
Donald, better known to friends as Jock, and Eileen were joined by the provost Donald Balsillie, the Lord Lieutenant Johnny Stewart and their son Niall, who goes by Max.

Also in attendance was former Clacks Lieutenancy officer Sheena Cruickshank, who served as chief bridesmaid during the wedding back in the 50s as a close friend of the bride.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Max said: “They met in Dollar Academy and have been involved with various projects in the school ever since so it seemed fitting to have it there.
“They spent about 40 minutes with the provost and Lord Lieutenant blethering and it was all so genuine.
“They loved the card from the King as it was personalised, the palace did a really good job on it and having the card really added to the occasion.”
Jock, originally from Fife, joined his wife in Clacks where they got a house together within Dollar.
They would go onto have two kids – Max and his sister Karen, who now lives in Seattle and could not make the occasion.
