CROWDS turned out in numbers as the sun shown down on Alloa for a charity event that brought a carnival atmosphere to the High Street.

The Family Carnival and Charity Fayre, organised by Alloa First and Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI), went ahead on Saturday, August 10.

Communities came out in numbers to take advantage of the entertainment and the great weather while also having the chance to visit stalls and hear about services and volunteering opportunities offered by a wide range of good causes in the area.

One of the highlights of the day was a performance by Saltire Steel, the Wee County’s very own steel band.

The performance was perfect for capturing a carnival atmosphere, energising a substantial crowd and keeping spirits high.

Carnival mask making and street art competitions kept young people busy while everyone enjoyed the entertainment put on by fire performers and stilt walkers on the day, who dazzled those visiting despite the wind, adding a touch of magic.

It was a lively and colourful day filled with entertainment and music as well as strong community spirit.

Diane Brown, manager at Alloa First, was thrilled with how the carnival turned out.

She said: “The community came together to enjoy a day full of fun and entertainment, and we're grateful to all the performers, stallholders, and our partners at CTSI for making it such a memorable event.”

With positive feedback, organisers are considering making the carnival an annual fixture in the town’s summer programme.

Diane added: “We're already looking forward to next year's event.

“With the momentum from this year, we hope to make it even bigger and better, bringing more excitement and fun to our community.”
