STAFF at Strathcarron Hospice have been hard at work renovating the outdoor spaces at the facility, hoping to provide a relaxing space for its patients.
The two outdoor spaces at Strathcarron are currently being transformed into wellbeing garden areas, with the aim being to help patients unwind outside.
Sandra Fleming is part of the staff at Strathcarron spearheading the project and has been thoroughly pleased with the progress so far.
She said: “There are so many mental health and well-being benefits to gardening and being outdoors.
“It has been lovely to see people enjoying the transformation over the summer and bring a bit of joy to people’s lives and help make our environment nicer for everyone.
“There has been an emphasis on recycling, repurposing and reusing what we already had on site where possible.
“We would like to thank our volunteers, particularly Bill and Liz for all their hard work. It has been great to see flowers and herbs growing and we even have spinach we hope the kitchen will be able to use.”
As part of the transformative work, the outdoor areas being targeted are the patio area behind the dining room and a wall leading down to the pond.
Strathcarron would also like to thank all those who have donated plants and supplies for the garden, which include Tesco Extra Cumbernauld and Bonnyview Nursery in Larbert.
If any business, garden centre or keen gardener wishes to help donate towards the project, they can contact Strathcarron by emailing sandra.fleming3@nhs.scot.
