FAMILIES are being invited to a “spectacular” event as a vibrant carnival atmosphere is set to take over Alloa’s town centre.
The Wee County’s very own Saltire Steel band, fire performers and more will be waiting for communities at the Family Carnival and Charity Fayre on Saturday, August 10.
The day will be a chance to enjoy fun activities and displays on the High Street while a wide range of charities from the area will also be on hand to tell people about their vital work, along with volunteering opportunities.
Starting at 11am on the day, the event will also see carnival mask and street art competitions, all organised by Alloa First and Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI).
Diane Brown, project manager at Alloa First – the town’s business improvement district organisation, told the Advertiser: "We’re hoping the local community will come and join us on Saturday, August 10, for a spectacular charities fayre hosted by Alloa First in partnership with CTSI.
“We have 20 local charities and third-sector organisations with stalls to raise funds, increase awareness, and recruit volunteers.
“Bring the family and enjoy a vibrant carnival atmosphere with fantastic entertainment, including stilt walkers, a fire performer, and live music from Saltire Steel, our community steel drum band.
“There’s lots of fringe activities for all to join in at the Alloa Hub, where you can make carnival masks and create street art.
“We’re delighted to be supporting this free family event which we hope our local community can enjoy as the summer holidays come to an end."
One of only two bands in Scotland to play Trinidadian steel pans, the eight-piece of Saltire Steel will be performing from 12noon with the carnival and fayre ending at around 2pm.
