THE community came out in huge numbers to support a family fun day in Alloa at the weekend.

Around 1,200 people flocked to the Wimpy Park to attend the annual event, which saw fun rides, inflatables, face painters, furry and creepy animals and much more.

Organisers the Wimpy Park Community Group hoped to fill the rejuvenated park for the day and their wishes came true with the weather staying dry.

The event was a chance to bring the community together and was hailed a success.

Mark Mitchell, vice chairperson of the group, said: “Everyone had a great time in the Wimpy Park with inflatables, small fairground rides, a foam party, face painters, Animal Man, local stalls and of course our fun games.

“A day to bring people together and a day to allow families to come and be together in our area.

“Events like these help us to bring together - not only families but also communities.

“Special thanks must go to all who helped us make this possible, those who came on the day, those who helped on the day, those who donated gifts for raffles and to the companies whose donations make it all possible.”

Mark gave a nod of appreciation to Kingdom Homes, Kerry Foods, the Asda Foundation, Rotary Club of Alloa, Alloa Round Table, Ochilview Housing Association, Clackmannanshire Council, The Robertson Trust, Fatboy’s Snack Van, Mr Whippy Ice Cream, Keystore Alloa – Menteith MiniMarket, King of the Castle Scotland, Animal Man, Party Face Painters and John Gibson Photography.

He added: “Without the help of all these people we cannot do the things we do and to see you, the community, come out in such huge numbers makes it all worthwhile.

“All proceeds we raise go back to the upkeep of the park and also help keep costs of future events low.

“We are always looking for new volunteers so if you feel you have something to offer please get in touch with us via our Facebook page.”
