A TULLIBODY man assaulted his former partner by pinning her down and covering her mouth.

When the woman took refuge in her car with her child, the accused began headbutting the vehicle.

Scott Hughes, of Dumyat Avenue, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He admitted committing offences on April 13, at Ashley Terrace, Alloa.

He shouted, swore, acted aggressively towards his ex-partner, repeatedly struck doors and walls, threw items around the property, prevented her from leaving, pursued her outside and repeatedly struck car windows with his head.

The 30-year-old then assaulted his ex-partner, grabbed her by the body, pinned her down on a bed, covered her mouth with his hands, repeatedly pushed her on the body, causing her to fall, all to her injury.

Defence solicitor Kelly Howe said her client was a first offender.

At the time of the incident, he was still living in the family home even though he and his partner had separated.

The lawyer added: "He was intoxicated that evening and when sober he was horrified about his conduct."

Sheriff Neil Bowie imposed a community payback order with 300 hours of unpaid work and 18 months of supervision.

Hughes was also put on a non-harassment order for two years.
