A WEE COUNTY man has launched a charity initiative designed to get men talking about their mental health.
Scott MacDonald, from Alloa, has started the Bands For Brothers project, wherein he sells wristbands, with all proceeds going to the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
His aim is to promote positive discussions surrounding men’s mental health and to raise funds for the work of SAMH, a cause close to his heart.
Speaking to the Advertiser, he said: “I have recently started an initiative called Bands For Brothers.
“This has two main objectives – increasing awareness of men’s mental health and starting life changing conversations."
Scott added: “I know for my own side of things that I’ve suffered with my own mental health at times and friends have been through it as well.
“You don’t need to go far to know someone who has been in that situation.”
Scott had previously fundraised for SAMH in the past by completing a 50-mile walk in the Laich o’Moray challenge near Forres last October.
Walking alongside his brother, the pair managed to raise over a whopping £1000 for the life-saving charity.

This successful fundraiser has prompted Scott to continue his fundraising efforts, leading to the launch of his Bands For Brothers project.
He reached out to SAMH to discuss the fundraiser, with the charity jumping on the idea.
Scott continued: “I reached out to SAMH and said I was looking to do this, I got the bands made and entered into the agreement that any profits beyond the costs of manufacture would be donated to them."
As part of his appeal, Scott has launched an Instagram account to promote and sell his wristbands.
He is also looking for support from businesses and organisations looking to help work towards supporting a good cause.
He added: “I’m looking for support from local businesses, sports teams to stock the bands as this would reduce postage times and fees, and ultimately the charity would benefit from more funds.”
Scott’s Instagram can be found at BandsForBrothers.
His wristbands can be purchased from Shopify.
