FORTH VALLEY COLLEGE has been selected as a finalist in a sustainability awards scheme for the third time in four years.
The college earned the nomination to the finals of this year's UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards in the Campus Health Food and Drink category.
It is one of seven finalists in the category alongside universities at Cambridge, Liverpool, Southampton, Sussex and Cardiff as well as Imperial College London.
FVC earned the nomination for its recent work with Forth Valley Food Futures and Forth Valley Food and Drink.
It was one of several case studies highlighted within the project, which primarily aimed to help develop a social impact auditing tool.
The work has helped produce the UK's first social impact auditing tool for the food and drink industry, allowing businesses and institutions to better understand their own contributions toward social sustainability.
By trialling the methodology, the college has gained a valuable understanding of how its own food and drink provision contributes to social impacts.
These efforts have already helped to reduce food waste, which has impressed the judges.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 13.
