A DEVELOPMENT day was recently held for Clackmannanshire Council’s Child Protection Committee.
It was the first event of its kind for the committee as people gathered at Alloa Town Hall.
Organised and run by Jim Young, lead officer for child protection, and Cecilia Meechan, independent chair of the committee, the day was attended by key council colleagues including chief social work officer Sharon Robertson.
Also in attendance were colleagues from Police Scotland along with other public and third sector partners from the Wee County and wider Forth Valley.
Writer Graeme Armstrong, author of the novel Young Team and creator of BBC documentary series Street Gangs, was the special guest on the day.
He delivered a powerful talk titled Street Belonging: Violence, Connection and Healing.

There was very informative input from Women’s Aid as well on domestic abuse and the impact it has on children.
Special mention went to Alva Academy pupil Abby Dowell who is pictured as she received a certificate for designing the committee’s new logo.
Also pictured are Clackmannanshire community inspector Nicky Collison, author Graeme Armstrong, chief social work officer Sharon Robertson and Jim Young, lead officer for child protection.
