A MUCH-LOVED toddler group in Alloa has unfortunately folded after the outgoing committee was unable to find successors.

St Mungo's RC Parent & Toddler Group in April issued a desperate appeal for people to join as committee members as it was otherwise facing dissolution.

Outgoing chairperson Jane McMillan had joined the group’s leadership following a similar appeal in 2021 and was looking to secure the future of the “well known and loved” group which was popular with families.

However, Jane has confirmed the appeal has been unsuccessful and the toddler group, which ran for more than three decades, held its last session earlier in June.

Jane, who was the final committee member standing and was due to leave the role, said she was “very upset” to have had to go through with the closure but no one was able to commit to running the group amid life’s pressures.

She previously spoke of a group where past families had fond memories of attending with their children and often grandchildren as well.

“It is and always has been, a great space for adults and children to meet, chat and play”, she told the Advertiser at the time.

She said the closure would take away a “valuable opportunity” for children, parents and carers with the group offering a unique environment.

The toddler group was seeking a chairperson, treasurer and secretary in a bid to continue.
