AN ALLOA supermarket is giving free breakfasts to veterans to mark Armed Forces Day this month.
Tesco Alloa, located on Auld Brig Road, will be offering a free full breakfast, veggie breakfast, vegan breakfast, sausage bap, veggie bap or bacon bap for free to members of the armed forces.
Armed Forces Day takes place this Saturday, June 29 and Tesco will be offering all serving personnel, regulars and reservists a free meal on Sunday, June 30.
All members need to do is show their MOD90 identification card at Tesco Extra Alloa’s Tesco café to qualify.
Ashwin Prasad, group chief product officer at Tesco and executive sponsor of the Armed Forces Network, was delighted to see the free meal scheme go ahead.
He said: “As the largest private employer of armed forces veterans in the UK, we feel a close affinity with armed forces personnel.
“Everyone loves a free breakfast and it’s a nice way of thanking them for their service.”
Clackmannanshire already celebrated Armed Forces Day earlier in the year, brought forward in the calendar to allow for the nearby primary schools to take part.
Rhys Little, chair of the armed forces network in Tesco, said: “We take great pride in our connection with the armed forces.
“We’ve received the gold award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme twice now – in 2016 and 2020 – and we were also the first retailer to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in 2014.”
