A SAUCHIE man’s threats to the family of his ex-partner have landed him a jail sentence.

Mark Whyte has a track record of domestic offending and his actions left his former partner “terrified”.

Whyte, 30, of Birchwood, appeared by video-link from prison at Alloa Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on April 8 at Griffin Bank, Alloa, during the course of a phone call, he threatened the sister of his former partner with violence, causing fear and alarm.

He then breached bail conditions imposed on April 17 when on April 26 at Shillinghill, Alloa, he attempted to communicate with his former partner.

Depute fiscal Sarah Smith said the threats were made during a Face Time call to the partner of the sister.

He said: “I’ll go down and smash everyone in the house. You phone them and tell them I’ll be down in 20 minutes.”

The sister had confronted Whyte and the call was ended.

The breach of bail occurred when his ex-partner was walking in a street with a friend and they spotted Whyte.

They ignored him but he called over to her before she got into a car and left.

The depute said the ex-partner had told police she was “terrified” of Whyte.

Sheriff Neil Bowie noted Whyte’s various previous convictions included stalking and that he had twice taken part in the Caledonian Programme for domestic offenders.

He said: “He has a plethora of domestically-aggravated offending.”

The sheriff jailed Whyte for 200 days and imposed a two-year non-harassment order.
