THE rain could not put a stop to the fun as Tillicoultry Gala went ahead in damp conditions at the weekend.
There was a great turnout at the annual event despite the less than favourable weather at Public Park on Sunday, June 16.
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of people as they gathered for the parade leaving Murray Square, led by Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band.
At the park, the crowning of the royal party took place with Queen Lily Jaglar and King Stuart Gallacher aided by page boy Cooper Chalmers and flower girl Ava-Grace McNee.
The gala was opened by Cllr Fiona Law while Damian Sherwood-Johnson acted as the compare for the day.
While a number of attractions and races unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the poor weather, Ladywell Sheepdogs still put on a fun display while Alba Performing Arts School had some 75 young people brave the weather and dance in the rain to entertain the crowds on the day.
Organisers from Tillicoultry, Coalsnaughton and Devonside Community Council still hailed a decent turnout and thanked everyone who took part and came out despite the weather, including stall holders and helpers.
Helen Saunders, of the Tillicoultry Gala Committee, said: “Considering the weather we didn’t have a bad turnout.
“Thanks go to everyone who turned up, it really was raining but everyone was positive.”
