TWO beauty therapy students from the Wee County have recently scooped prizes for their hard work at college.
Megan Arthur, 27 from Alloa, was named Beauty Therapy Student of the Year at Forth Valley College and is hoping to set up her own salon after completing an HND.
The second year student was presented with a trophy and goody bag for taking the top prize during an impromptu prizegiving ceremony.
Megan said: “I am very happy to have won.
“All the blood, sweat and tears has been worth it.
“I have enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who wants to dive into beauty therapy as it’s got a bit of everything.”
Her classmate Xana Harding, 21 and also from Alloa, was gifted a goody bag as the runner-up for the award.
Xana also hopes to eventually set her own business up and said: “All the hard work has paid off, though coming to the end of the HND seems a wee bit surreal to me at the moment.
“I have enjoyed it and all the girls in the class have been amazing and I have made a lot of good friends.”

Lecturer Morag Wood spoke highly of the two “fantastic students”.
She said: “It was very difficult to choose between them.
“Deadlines were always met and their commercial salon attendance was consistent.
“Both worked to a high standard to achieve their qualification.
“Congratulations and best wishes from all your lecturers.”
